Dr Roos graduated with distinction from UCT in 2007. After three years practicing in East London
and Grahamstown, she spent time working in London at a private psychiatric hospital. She
returned to South Africa to specialize in psychiatry at Stellenbosch University. On graduation she
received the CMSA Novartis Medal for top psychiatry student in the national examinations. She
concurrently completed specialist examinations in the United Kingdom and joined the Royal
College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Roos returned to UCT, working at Groote Schuur hospital in the consultation liaison
psychiatry department where she managed patients with comorbid medical and psychiatric
conditions.
She is currently practicing at Valkenberg Hospital, focusing on general adult psychiatric
conditions. Dr Roos also has a part time private practice at UCT Private Academic Hospital.
Dr Roos brings to her work a combination of academic rigour with regular teaching and research
commitments as well enjoying clinical time and engagement with patients. She values team work
and good communication with referrers. She employs a combination of medical and
psychological treatments tailored to the individual patient.
