Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDE)

This Centre provides highly specialised consultations and personal care for patients with rare or difficult to treat endocrine diseases.  Focus is on quality of consultations, with time given to address concerns. All patients are referred in by general practitioners or other specialists for specific consultations.  The clinicians work  in a team approach, sharing expertise and offering access to the most highly qualified  opinions in the country.

Who we are:

Prof Joel Dave is the current Head of the Division of Endocrinology at UCT and Groote Schuur Hospital. He  enjoys and has a great deal of experience in general endocrinology, his main clinical interests include thyroid disease, parathyroid disease, pituitary disease, osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes.

Prof Peter Raubenheimer is the Head of General Internal Medicine at UCT and Groote Schuur Hospital and an Endocrinologist in the Division of Endocrinology. He has broad  general expertise in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine, and a special interest in Type 1 diabetes, insulin pump therapy and rare forms of diabetes. His research areas focuses on diabetes.

Under the expert educational supervision of Diabetes Nurse Anke Diedericks, individuals of all ages and their families receive comprehensive, personalised, continuous (including remote) and compassionate diabetes care of international standards.
